As many people know, BAALS took to the road this past weekend with the first annual Chirp Fest event at Ball State University. The event garnered in around 3,000 students, locals, and kids for the 6 hour event located on N. Dill St. Glow sticks, dancing, and great music filled the night! Doors open at 5:30 PM so get there early to start the festivities off! Thank you to all our sponsors who are making this event possible.
BAALS is back and we are getting chirpy down at Ball State on September 19, 2015! We just couldnt get enough August 1st so we decided to hit the road and bring some Fort Wayne love to Muncie and treat the Ball State students with an affordable block party! Tickets are $5 at the door and Chirp Fest will run 6 PM – 12 AM on the legendary Dill Street outside of Brothers Bar and Grill.
Why Muncie? The BAALS team was very excited when this idea surfaced and we have always drawn a great crowd from the Ball State area. So what better way to show love to the Muncie crowd by throwing a traditional block party like #house4ahouse in the past. Artists include Fort Wayne’s own Mikado, as well as The Dub Knight, Jody Free, Nyzzy Nyce, J Tubbs, and other local Ball State and Muncie Djs. #chirpchirp
As the EDM music genre continues to grow through music festivals, artist tours, and pop culture music; there is also growing controversy on whether huge DJs actually play music or just “push play”. At BAALS Music Festival on August 1, 2015, we will have an artist called HeRobust joining the family, coming in from Atlanta, Georgia. Known for his high energy hip-hop style beats, he has been blowing up in the EDM world. In the past couple of weeks, he has released three new tracks on his Soundcloud for free called: Skurt Reynolds, Post Malone – White Iverson (BUSTED By Herobust), and Bomb Bomb by Protohype and Herobust
As we follow his journey, a post came to our attention as of recently, that features HeRobust on Awful Sessions playing one of his more chill type tracks, Check it out ->Atlantarctica. Pay attention to how much interaction he has with his song and doesn’t just let it play from start to finish. So many aspects can be added to a song to achieve ideal listening pleasure. This proves that not every so called DJ just pushes play up on stage and we are happy to have Hayden with us on August 1, 2015 at BAALS! Get your tickets to see him work his magic!
BAALS Music Festival is teaming up with Pedal City for a couple giveaways in the month of July. The first being a 2 HOUR RIDE FOR FREE!! As the date creeps closer to the day of BAALS Music Festival, people have been on edge to see what’s to be expected and who’s going to perform. This year we introduce National DJ, Crizzly as our headliner for the festival! Alongside him, we also bring along Herobust and Kasum who are known for their high energy performances.
Crizzly reigns from Austin, Texas and started DJing in 2010, and from there he took off. An abundance of his tracks incorporate a style that involves crunkstep, dub step, and specifically trap; which continues to be a growing genre amongst youth. Remixing tracks from artists such as Waka Flocka Flame, Bassnectar, and Excision are just a few of the artists he’s worked with in collaboration. Crizzly‘s music can be defined in so many ways to so many different people, but it’s indubitably a unique blend of bass drops and strings that can move a crowd like no other. Where will Crizzly be at before BAALS this year, you may wonder? Crizzly is featured at festivals such as EDC New York, EDC Las Vegas, and Electric Forest; this not only amps up the anticipation from his fans in Fort Wayne, but his draw from around the Midwest.
With the festival coming closer, BAALS Music Festival welcomes Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne with open arms as the title sponsor for this summer’s festival! In past years, the festival has partnered with locally owned businesses and companies throughout Fort Wayne to get not only the community involved, but to also bring together the city through something that’s beneficial to all. We here at BAALS are excited about the partnership with IPFW and the impact the university has on the community. The partnership shows what it could do to help grow BAALS Music Festival and IPFW in community based events; because roughly 70-80% of the festival attendees are current or past college students.
BAALS Music Festival loves to give back to the community, but with gained respect and credibility from the city, it’s nice to know that there are companies, and now the main university in the area, that want to help make BAALS Music Festival something much greater than what the name stands for. The city of Fort Wayne has always been know as a community of businesses working together to better the city, unlike a lot of other cities, and we take great pride and honor in having the university joining our team this year! The collaboration with IPFW shows what partnerships the event can spark, but that the university is looking to get Mastodon pride into downtown Fort Wayne! Join the Herd!
In years prior, BAALS Music Festival and House4aHouse have been strictly electronic dance music(EDM) events with DJs playing hour long sets in front of the growing crowds. In 2015 though, BAALS is going with a new approach to the downtown festival. Multi-genre is a thing of the present and speaks to a much bigger crowd of people besides just EDM music lovers.
In 2015, genres such as EDM, hip-hop, rap, folk rock, acoustic, jam bands, etc will be looked at to perform at the festival. Festivals such as Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza stress the multi-genre feel to a festival so that they can bring in many different types of music lovers. Acts such as Billy Joel, Deadmau5, Kanye West, Mumford and Sons, and many different artists/groups are projected to play at these festivals in 2015
BAALS Music Festival‘s goal from day 1 has been bringing as many people to downtown Fort Wayne, IN and revitalizing the city itself. With these new music genres we will be including on August 1, 2015 we expect to pull over 10,000 people to the festival at Headwaters Park Pavilion.
BAALS is doing something new this year regarding artists; we are opening up an application page for artists to apply to! If you are an artist that would be interested in performing at BAALS Music Festival we would love to have you APPLY to get on the lineup for 2015! We want to broaden our lineup so any artist is open to apply!
